2016 April 24, Sunday Synopsis: Writing and Stuff

This has been a fairly productive week, even though my finished products have yet to show the effort that has gone into the work.  The diary of my 3x great grandfather James Peter McPherson has taken considerable amount of time.  I have another three months of entries to post for tomorrow, which will take the diary entries to December 31, 1852.

In addition I wrote the story of James Peter and Daniel B. Lester, as I understood it from the diary entries.  In addition to searching the diary for information about the two men, I checked out the 1850  Federal Census reports for the townships of Springdale and neighboring townships -- to no avail, at least relating to Daniel B. Lester.   Lester, as well as McPherson, were in the 1860 Federal Census,

I did not renew my Ancestry.com membership and am feeling a bit of a withdrawal, as there were a few Ancestry avenues that I might have researched.   Nevertheless, I feel that I got the story as it unfolded, even though there are many unanswerable questions.

I -- well, I say "I", but it was indeed my wonderful editor, Lenora -- uploaded the final edits of the Jabezes book onto CreateSpace.   When I read the "Proof", I found that I couldn't live with some of the verbiage.   I went into a bit of re-write.  Then when I tried to upload after the original "Proof," I had some problems.  I whined, sniveled and finally called on Lenora who makes all "booky" things better.  Next week, the Jabezes should be ready for Amazon listing and purchases.  Stay tuned.

I haven't gotten back to writing on the Doc and Me book, but have spent considerable time making notes about where I am going after the initial 20,000 words.  Although I have a general plan, when I write the words seem to have their own way of jumping out of the computer and onto the printed page.  Interesting.

The weather has been rather spring-like, lots of sun interspersed with periods of rain.  The sun has led me into early planting of pots of flowers.  Spanish Lavender on my front deck is looking good, and I also have about half of the pots planted for the hanging planters in front.  Hope to finish the front deck this coming week and then on to the side and back decks.   I miss my former yard girl because my plants always looked wonderful.  However, I don't miss the stealing, lying, and forgery that was part and parcel of her being.  Even though I miss having her help, I am enjoying planting and working outside.  It's a good thing.

Kids and grandkids are all busy and doing new and interesting things.  Spring is in the air.
